Today is Sunday (4th August 2019). I was thinking to cook something tasty but easy to be done. So, I planned to cook chicken gravy for two persons using four to five chicken pieces. This dish is one of Malaysians' favorite food, also addressed as chicken sambal. Actually, I was tempted for chicken gravy (the gravy only, chicken not my first choice) because of my friend's lunch box. She brought the food cooked by her mom and I tried a bit, of course, it was tasty and mouth-watering. The chicken gravy I cooked was turned into a delicious dish, which made my day and worth my effort of cooking. Yes, here im going to share the recipe of chicken gravy made by simple ingredients, especially always available in our kitchen. Let's look at the ingredients and how to cook............


 Ingredients:

  • Sesame oil for gravy - 3 tbsp
  • Oil to fry chicken 
  • Cardamom -2 pcs
  • Star anise - 1 pcs
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 medium size
  • Cloves - 3
  • Bay leaves - 2 pcs
  • Onion - 1 big
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Green chilly - 4 to 5 pcs
  • Salt - as required for gravy and to fry chicken
  • Crushed peppercorn - +/- 10 pieces 
  • Dried chilly powder - 2 tbsp for gravy 1/2 tbsp to fry chicken
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp for gravy and 1/3 tbsp to fry chiccken
  • Tomato - 1
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tsp 
Direction:

  1. Marinate chicken pieces with chilly powder, turmeric powder, and salt for 10 to 15 minutes. Then fry the chicken pieces and keep it aside.
  2. Add sesame oil in cooking a pan and wait for heats up. Add all the ingredients as listed above and saute for 2 to 4 minutes. Then add onion, ginger garlic paste, green chilies, and salt. Mix them well and saute until onion turn into light pink.


3. Add crushed peppercorn, dried chilly powder and turmeric powder. Saute them till oil start to split





4. Add one chopped tomato in the pan and mix well.

                                           

 5. Add water to cook the masala powder and bring it into a slightly thick consistency. After that can add fried chicken pieces into the gravy and cook until the gravy bind to chicken.


6. Now add 1 tsp of oyster sauce and adjust salt as per taste. 


7. Finally chicken gravy (or chicken sambal in Malaysia) ready to serve.
